A Brutally Honest Mid-Year Business Audit
It’s July 9th, 2024. Blink twice, and you’ll wake up in Q4.
So let’s cut the fluff—are you where you thought you’d be when the ball dropped?
If the answer is anything but a hell yes, it’s time for a reality check.
This is your mid-year business and life audit. We’re about to figure out what’s working, what’s broken, and how to course-correct before 2024 leaves you behind.
Quick heads-up: If you didn’t set goals in January, this blog might sting a little. But if you’re ready for ownership over excuses—keep reading.
You Can’t Be “Off Track” If You Never Had a Track
Let’s start here: You can’t claim to be behind if you never set the damn target.
Goals aren’t some rah-rah January hype ritual. They’re your GPS. No destination? You’re just wandering.
Here’s a stat to chew on: 80% of people abandon their resolutions by mid-February.
Why? Because their goals weren’t clear, realistic, or anchored to action.
And listen—this isn’t about shame. It’s about clarity. If you can’t measure progress, you can’t make progress.
It’s Not Excuses That Kill Goals—It’s Distraction
Let’s get real. Life threw you some curveballs this year, didn’t it?
Your kid got hurt. Your schedule exploded. Your team fell apart. That’s not weakness—it’s life.
But here’s the trap: you didn’t build systems to account for life.
You built a plan assuming the world would cooperate. It didn’t.
And while you were busy reacting to chaos, your goals quietly starved to death.
Success doesn’t come from hoping things go perfectly. It comes from building fortresses around your focus.
Are you managing your attention—or is it managing you?
The Lie of Steady Progress
“If I just stay consistent every week, I’ll hit my goals.”
Bullshit.
Most people don’t work like that. You didn’t write your college essays on Week 1. You crammed the night before.
Same with sales quotas. Same with fitness. Same with everything.
In my years leading sales teams, 80% of production happened in the last week of the month.
Why? Because urgency forces action.
Want to Win? Shrink the Window
The back half of 2024 is still wide open. But if you think in “yearly” or “someday” terms, you’re already toast.
Here’s the BMG method to get your focus back:
🔹 6-month goal → Clear, specific, and measurable.
🔹 Monthly checkpoints → Break it into milestones.
🔹 Weekly targets → Get granular.
🔹 3-day sprints → Get dangerous.
Shrink the timeline. Force urgency.
You don’t need more time—you need more pressure.
The Sprint Mentality
When I’m working with serious players in my affiliate agency, I don’t play the long game. I run 3-day sprints.
Here’s why it works:
- Short goals = higher urgency
- You get real feedback mid-week, not post-mortem
- Momentum stacks. Fast.
Sprints make people dangerous. You’ll stop pretending and start producing.
You’ll finally see what you’re actually capable of when distractions die and your calendar gets weaponized.
Don’t Confuse a Missed Goal with Failure
Let me say something most people won’t:
If you’re staring at your January goals and realizing you’ve hit none of them…
That doesn’t make you a failure. It just means you have data. That’s it.
Goals are just a report card—a mirror, not a verdict.
Life’s a game. Don’t quit the whole damn season because you lost the first half.
And here’s the truth that trips most people up:
You’re allowed to change your goals.
Adjusting isn’t weakness—it’s wisdom. Goals are meant to stretch you, not strangle you.
If your goals don’t light you up anymore—if they just feel heavy, or impossible, or misaligned—change them.
Not out of fear. Out of power.
Forgive yourself. Reset. Then go get after something that actually fuels you.
The Mid-Year Reset Ritual
No fluff. Just action. Here’s your 5-step reset:
✅ Review January’s goals – Still relevant? Adjust.
✅ Audit the scoreboard – Wins and misses. Own both.
✅ Reframe the next 6 months – What has to happen?
✅ Set weekly + 3-day targets – Tactics over theory.
✅ Kill distractions – Protect your focus like it’s your kid.
This isn’t about being busy. It’s about getting brutally effective.
Time’s Still Ticking—Are You?
You’ve got half a year left. Whether you’ve been crawling or coasting, the next 6 months are yours to flip the script.
But here’s the truth: if you don’t course-correct now, you’ll be having this same conversation in December, just with more regret in the tank.
So stop floating. Get fierce.
Pick one thing you’re recommitting to for Q3—drop it in the comments. Or shoot me a message if you want to run a real sprint and see what you’re made of.
The clock’s ticking. The window’s shrinking. The rest of the year is yours to rewrite.
Now run with it.
