Respect Ain’t Complicated
Supporting All Voices in Business – Pride Month 2024
Look, I’m not here to argue politics or religion. I’m not here to wave a flag for clicks. I’m here to talk about something way simpler than that: basic human respect.
And in business? Respect isn’t some “extra credit” bonus. It’s the whole damn foundation.
It’s June. It’s Pride Month. And yeah, your feed’s probably full of rainbow logos and “love is love” hashtags. But this post isn’t about what’s trending. It’s about what’s true.
Because while some people are out here still debating who deserves dignity, the rest of us are just trying to build businesses that don’t suck—and teams that actually work.
Pride Month Is Bigger Than a Hashtag
Pride Month isn’t just for parades and profile picture filters.
At its core, it’s about visibility, safety, and the right to live—and love—out loud.
If you’ve never thought twice about walking down the street holding your partner’s hand, you’ve lived with a privilege that many still don’t have. That’s real. And that’s exactly why Pride Month exists.
It’s not about being flashy. It’s about being free. Free to show up in the world without fear. Free to work, lead, love, and live without hiding.
Business Is No Place for Bigotry
Let me make this part as clear as I can: if you’re running a business, **your job is to lead—**not to alienate.
You don’t have to change your beliefs. But if you’re using your business platform to post ignorant shit or push exclusionary views, don’t be surprised when your growth stalls.
Screenshots don’t disappear. DMs get shared. And in 2024? Saying something dumb doesn’t just make you look bad—it can burn bridges faster than bad service.
If your business isn’t growing, maybe it’s not your ad strategy. Maybe it’s your attitude.
Because people watch how you treat others. They remember how you make them feel. That includes your LGBTQ+ clients, your team members, your partners, your audience.
And if you’re sending signals—subtle or loud—that certain people aren’t welcome?
You’re not just a bad leader. You’re a liability to your own bottom line.
Inclusion Isn’t Optional—It’s a Growth Strategy
When you build a team that looks like the real world, you don’t just win socially—you win strategically.
More perspectives = more creativity.
More lived experience = better problem solving.
More voices = stronger, more resilient business.
And let’s be real: the LGBTQ+ community isn’t some “niche market.” We’re talking about $1.7 trillion in economic impact. These are founders, CEOs, creatives, consultants, parents, marketers, developers—and customers.
Why would you ever want to exclude people bringing that much power to the table?
The best entrepreneurs I know don’t care who you love. They care how you lead, how you show up, and how you handle your business.
A Dad’s Hope for the Future
I’ve got a daughter. And one day, she’ll be dating. One day, she’ll be building her own life. And I pray she grows up in a world where love isn’t controversial and respect isn’t a debate topic.
Where it doesn’t matter if the person she falls for wears heels, boots, or anything in between.
What matters is character. Integrity. Loyalty. Love.
And let’s not pretend like that future magically appears. It starts with us. With what we tolerate in our companies. With how we talk to people. With how we respond to offhand comments, behind-closed-door jokes, and lazy stereotypes.
We’re not just building businesses—we’re building cultures. And cultures either lift people up or push them out.
So Here’s the Ask
This isn’t about changing your logo for 30 days.
It’s about showing up better—every day.
- Hire based on heart and skill, not who someone dates.
- Call out the dumb jokes.
- Create a work environment where people don’t have to pretend.
- And most of all, lead with respect.
Pride Month isn’t about pandering. It’s about progress.
So to every LGBTQ+ team member, client, leader, or customer who’s had to fight just to be seen—we see you. We appreciate you. And if you’ve got the talent, drive, and integrity, you’re always welcome in our rooms.
Boom Marketing Group supports all voices. Not just the loudest. Not just the majority. All.
Because respect isn’t complicated.
It’s just good leadership.
