Momentum Starts in the Slow Months

Why March Isn’t Dead Time—It’s Planting Season

Let’s talk about March.
Weird month, right? No urgency. Tax stress. No big holidays. Everyone’s still shaking off New Year’s hangovers and trying to decide whether they’re going to push—or coast.

But let me be clear:
March is not a dead zone. March is the setup.
And if you miss the setup, don’t be surprised when summer rolls around and you’re stuck playing catch-up while others are cashing checks.

📅 Business Has Seasons—Just Like Life

Jim Rohn  was an amazing communicator and leader and I loved it when he spoke on breaking life into seasons.
The same is true in business.

  • There’s a preparation season

  • A planting season

  • A growth season

  • And a harvest season

You don’t get to choose when they show up. But if you ignore the prep—you can forget about the payout.

Right now, March is the slow season.
And that’s exactly why you should be planning, refining, and sharpening your tools.

🕰️ Your Results Trail Your Effort

One of the biggest traps in this space is expecting instant results.
But anyone who’s built anything real knows:
Your results are always trailing your effort.

What you do in March shows up in June.
What you don’t do in March?
That also shows up in June.

If you’re looking around and things feel quiet—good.
That means it’s time to work your plan without distraction

💥 What Momentum Really Feels Like

Let me say something that might surprise you:
If you’ve never been on the edge of burnout—overwhelmed by team growth, client calls, and logistics flying in from every angle—
you’ve probably never experienced true momentum.

A wise mentor once told me:

“The person with the most problems in their organization is usually the one making the most money.”

Big business brings big problems.

Your goal isn’t to avoid them—it’s to become a professional problem solver.
That’s where the real money is made.
And momentum? It creates more problems.

So your goal is to build something that forces you to solve problems daily.

Because momentum isn’t landing a few clients this week.
It’s not your best friend joining the team.

It’s waves and waves and waves of activity hitting you from every direction. It’s drowning in opportunity and feeling like you’re barely coming up for air.

And that whole level of energy?
It doesn’t show up by accident.

It gets built during quiet months—like March—when nobody’s watching.

💡 Plant Seeds Now or Regret It Later

You want to be a leader? Start acting like one before your team shows up.

  • Don’t wait until your team recruits a sales office to figure out how to host a Zoom.
  • Don’t wait until someone schedules a big meeting to finally download your pitch deck.
  • Don’t wait until the calls are flooding in to realize you have no follow-up system.

March is the time to get your systems right, your language right, and your mindset right.

🎯 Final Thought: Give It a Damn Year

I’ve never understood why people join a business with the mindset of “let’s see how this goes over the next few weeks.”

Unless something’s way off or your gut is throwing red flags, I’m telling you this:
Give it one year.

Not full-time.
Not all-in.
Just part-time consistent effort across every season—so you can actually see what this business feels like when it’s running on all cylinders.

You’re not planting seeds for today.
You’re planting them for the version of your business you want to wake up to in 90 days.
